In aceste conditii trebuie sa se aiba in vedere ca o companie – mai ales daca este mare – cu zeci de mii de fani si poate chiar spre 10 000 de urmaritori pe Twitter poate sa fie “urmarita” de multe conturi spam. Cu alte cuvinte s-ar putea sa nu fi chiar atat de “social” precum crezi.

In looking at more than 90m users and 100m pieces of user-generated content from its client base, which includes Posterous and Bebo, Impermium found that up to 40% of public accounts on social networks it works with are fake accounts set up by spammers and scamsters. Not surprisingly, according to Impermium, the juicier the target, the higher the ‘fake’ figure.
The problem is significant. As detailed by TechCrunch:
Impermium also found that so-called ‘sleeper cells’ of social web abuse are growing fast. One if its customers experienced an attack of 30,000 fraudulent new accounts in one hour. Those accounts then posted 475,000 malicious messages to legitimate community members.

Cu toate acestea nu cred ca exista om care sa nu fi zarit macar un cont de Twitter care e doar un spammer, nu cred ca nu s-au vazut o groaza de pagini de Facebook care nu sunt gestionate de cei ale caror numele le poarta (sunt si ale unor persoane publice de la noi, dar si din strainatate 🙂 ).
Mai sunt apoi – indraznesc eu sa adaug – si acele conturi create, care dau add unor conturi pe Twitter sau Like unor pagini pe Facebook dar care nu doar ca nu sunt active, nici nu sunt prezente online. E una macar sa intri si sa citesti actualizarile celor pe care ii urmaresti si e alta sa intri doar ca X sau Y are nevoie de un vot ori sa iti fi facut cont, sa il fi abandonat, dar sa nu il fi sters.
