Ce sunt relatiile publice?
|Unul dintre primele lucruri pe care le afli despre relatiile publice – mai ales in calitate de student – este ca exista peste 400 de definitii ale termenului (ca sa fiu mai exacta ar trebui sa spun aproape 500).
Desigur acestea au fost date cu ceva vreme in urma. La fel de clar este faptul ca exista mici diferente, mici nuantari. Ba se pune accent pe relatiile cu actionarii, ba pe faptul ca relatiile publice constituie un proces de management sau o functie de management, ba pe pastrarea unei legaturi cu tipurile de public ale organizatiei.
Recent, PRSA – asociatie internationala – a decis ca e cazul sa existe o definitie actuala (sau actualizata) a PR-ului. S-au propus definitii si iata ca s-a ajuns la o selectie de variante care asteapta sa fie votate.

Public relations is the management function of researching, engaging, communicating, and collaborating with stakeholders in an ethical manner to build mutually beneficial relationships and achieve results.

Voi ce ziceti? Ce definitie e cea mai potrivita? Oare un mix? Oare alte elemente?
Later edit: Eu nu cred ca una dintre aceste 3 definitii este cea mai buna. Cand vorbim despre relatii publice vorbim intr-adevar despre un proces de a crea si mentine relatii mutual avantajoase cu toate tipurile de public utilizand si toate tehnicile, instrumentele si canalele avute la dispozitie, fara a minti/manipula. La fel, relatiile publice inseamna si gestionarea imaginii (cu tot ce implica aceasta). Da, PRul nu este ceva extrem de mic si doar o bucatica musai subordonata tuturor (un soi de ciuca bataii cum este vazuta acum de multi). Evident nu este nici cel mai cel element dintr-o firma, insa nici cel mai putin important. Vorbim, de asemenea, de implicarea tuturor dintr-o companie – eh, multe-s de spus, dar sunt tare curioasa in continuare sa aflu parerea voastra.
Daca e sa vorbim strict de definitii, uite una pe care o agreez, tocmai pt ca recunoaste si partea organizationala, dar perspectiva e mult mai ampla: “In Europe it seems to be more common and more convincing to think of public relations not only as an organisational activity, but also as a social phenomenon, that is, as a phenomenon which has societal functions and impacts on the society and its subsystems like the political system, the economic system, the cultural system or the media system” (Bentele)
Recunosc ca eu nu sunt adepta definitiilor complicate si lungi cat o poveste bogata in termeni bombastici si cred ca este foarte importanta claritatea. Vorba aceea, tu cum ii explici bunicii tale ce sunt relatiile publice? 😛 Cat despre cele 3 variante, as alege o combinatie scurta intre toate 3. Si apropo de ceea ce intrebi mai sus – daca ar mai trebui spus ceva in plus – cred ca ar trebui adaugat intr-o forma sau alta ca relatiile publice nu sunt media buying. Nu stiu de ce, dar intalnesc tot mai des confuzia asta.
@Alina Iti multumesc pentru definitia mai ampla. Intr-adevar, date fiind zonele acoperite de PR, este de dorit sa existe o definitie cuprinzatoare – daca tot vorbim de o definitie a domeniului. Se presupune ca aceasta ar trebui sa fie “definitorie” ca sa zic asa, si nu sa acopere doar un segment. De aceea recunosc ca sunt chiar curioasa ce va iesi in final.
@Valentina Da, din pacate si eu remarc adesea aceasta confuzie – uneori chiar spunandu-se ca asa invatam. Revenind la definitie si eu vad tot o combinatie – si chiar cu elemente in plus. Cred ca aici ne referim la o definitie si pentru cei din domeniu si e bine sa fie cat mai exacta. Probabil ca in explicatiile catre cei din afara domeniului se utilizeaza si comparatii, analogii (eu una asa fac – si da, a trebuit sa ii explic bunicii ce fac eu, si-apoi si altora “ce-s alea relatii publice”).
Adică Harlow a muncit în zadar să ajungă la un numitor comun cu cele 500 de definiţii că PRSA-ul s-a gândit la ceva actualizări ? Drăguţ.
Nu ştiu care definiţie s-ar apropia cel mai mult de domeniul relaţiilor publice (de exemplu la pct. 3 se vorbeşte de organizaţii şi „indivizi”, în loc de „publicuri”), dar e sigur că nu poate fi exclusă din calcul, şi cu atât mai puţin din definiţie, funcţia managerială a relaţiilor publice. Deci prima variantă, asta fiindcă aduce în discuţie şi componenta etică. Să se simtă şi Bernays apreciat.
o prefer pe prima, din doua motive foarte importante cel putin pentru mine: primul este acela ca se refera la PR ca la o functie de management, fapt care asigura, si teoretic, prezenta omului de PR in the room, la luarea deciziilor strategice nu numai post factum, la comunicarea lor; al doilea este acela ca ne reaminteste ca PR-ul trebuie sa fie etic, o chestie pe care multa lume o uita cu o dezinvoltura uimitoare invocand false ratiuni de business
@Andrei @Sorana Intr-adevar, componenta etica este extrem de importanta (mai ales daca ne uitam si la cazuri recente de scandaluri la care s-a ajuns tocmai pentru ca principii de bun simt in final au fost incalcate).
Cum spuneam insa, cred ca definitia cea mai buna ar fi o combinatie a celor trei: functia de management, etica, relatii mutual avantajoase cu tipurile de public.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
